Girl with Donkey (Spring Shower)
Huang Zhou (Chinese, 1925 – 1997) contributed greatly to the development of modern Chinese art, he was apprenticed in adolescence to masters Zhao Wangyun and Han Leran, who fused traditional Chinese cultural elements in paintings.
Huang used Western sketching skills in his traditional Chinese paintings to capture the movement of people and animals, depicting the vivid life scenes of Chinese ethnic groups and ordinary people, to reveal a harmonious relationship between humans and the nature.
He was also an activist who made outstanding contributions to the preservation and promotion of national art, as well as delivering art education to the public.
